The award winning Waterfront is Canberra’s first residential
development to be built on the shores of Lake Burley
Griffin.
Comprising four glazed atria and housing
104 luxury apartments including 9 penthouses, The
Waterfront is
a
world-class development that sets the
benchmark for contemporary, sophisticated design.
As Canberra’s first waterfront residential development,
the Waterfront required PBS to focus on key
environmental issues and to deliver a range of solutions
which included extensive ground water management
and the installation of concrete piers driven up to 32
meters into the ground to alleviate poor soil quality.
The unique curved structure required PBS to innovate at
almost every stage of the construction to deliver the best
outcomes for the client (Stockland) and to deliver the
project a record 3 months ahead of program.
The structure features a concrete frame constructed
from pre-cast concrete with post-tensioned concrete
decks and extensive glazing delivering spectacular
views of Lake Burley Griffin.
The four glazed atria apartment buildings incorporate
nine penthouses which are fitted out with individual lifts
and curved timber staircases.
