Gungahlin Square is a truly mixed use development that enables people to live, shop & dine out within the one development. The project consists of 101 residential units, 40 commercial tenancies, food outlets, gymnasium, car parking and an ALDI supermarket.
The project was undertaken on a Design and Construct basis for Primespace Developments with a contract value of 34 million dollars and a construction duration of 78 weeks.
The building is varied in its construction, using 4 different structure types throughout.
The suspended car park
deck and level 1 suspended slab are all Concrete Framed Post Tensioned Slabs. The upper floors of the 4 end
towers are
core filled block work and
ultra floor with an insituconcrete core (lift shaft and stairs). The double
storey townhouses
located on the podium levels are all timber framed with a proprietary wall separation system used.
The residential areas of the building have a brick Façade rendered with bands of face brickwork interspersed to add texture. The commercial office space has a Compressed Fibre Cement Board Façade with expressed joints to break the length of the building. Included within the project was the construction of the surrounding roads and installation of all services to the building and roads.
The finished units although small are finished to an extremely high standard and the finished project is testament to
PBS Buildings commitment to quality. Internally a selection of finishes was available to choose from, all included
stone bench tops, stainless steel Fisher & Paykell appliances, 36oz pure wool carpets and fully tiled bathrooms.
Externally the landscaped areas provide amenities such as timber BBQ areas, private courtyards, irrigated grass
beds and a range of plantings to create a relaxing & comfortable environment.
