Constructed for Wide Bay Water (WBW), the Hervey Bay Water Education Park aims to educate the community on the importance of sustainable water use.
The project included the construction of a static wave machine; 3 zero depth water play zones designed to suit people of all ages from toddlers through to adults; life sized whale sculptures; 2 amenities blocks; and a raised timber boardwalk that links the various elements of the park and features interactive educational displays.
During construction the caravan park and sporting oval adjacent the site remained fully operational and accessible to the public. PBS ensured constant communication was maintained with the operators of these facilities, minimising disruptions on site and ensuring the general public remained safe at all times.
The team overcame many challenges during the project including:
80% of the water used at the park is recycled, reinforcing WBW’s commitment to becoming Australia’s first coastal
community to reuse 100% of its treated wastewater and stormwater.
